    Man I love Fujifilm have a soft spot in my heart for them. Sadly sold all my Fujifilm and just decided to stay w/ in the Leica & Sony system. When I had the X-T5 I love shooting on it. Just felt at the time that I was shooting on to many systems.

    Thanks for sharing, its great to hear your thoughts, i currently own the XT4 and XH2s and fairly satisfied with the performance even though most of my event photography is low light, I normally live around the 1600-4000 iso range, with Capture One i find the noise more than acceptable and easy to dial away with the software. I am looking at getting a third body and just wanting to know with the XT5 40mpx sensor, will I notice a huge increase in noise especially low light? My other option was to gi with poly camera setup and and get the Sony A74 with the 24-50 f2.8 as the low light beast? But the Sony option will obviously cost a lot more.

    • @FredRanger
      @FredRanger Годину тому

      I just shot a concert with the T5 and the 16-55 f2.8 in very low light and I was surprised with the result. I mainly lived at ISO 6400 and the files are not more noisy than with my previous X-T4 or X-T3 even with that new 40MP sensor. The way they were able to control the noise coupled with an efficient IBIS system makes it viable for those scenarios. Of course the FF Sony A74 will perform better in very low light, but I prefer the shooting experience, colours and overall product design philosophy of Fujifilm. It is really a personal choice in the end. Happy shooting!

    I'm loving my X-T5. Super great experience. I keep my XF 35mm f1.4 on about 85% of the time and loving it to death. Exciting to hear your perspective. Question: You said ZV-E1 (presuming you meant E10) - is it the first gen one? I was thinking about getting that for my desktop studio.

    • @FredRanger
      @FredRanger 23 години тому

      The 35mm 1.4 is a classic and goes along well with the X-T5 even if it isn't "optimized" for the new 40MP sensor. As for the Sony camera I use for video, it is the ZV-E1 paired with the 20mm f /.8 G lens. Same sensor as in the FX-3/A7s3

      @ChrisBrogan 22 години тому

      @@FredRanger - oh E1. I guess I didn't know about that. But now I'm looking into it. Thanks, Fred. And yeah, I know the lens isn't optimized as such. But I'm too dumb to know the difference.

    I used to work with an XH2s earlier this year. Had it with 5 Fujinon lenses. That set was my work kit. From 10-24 to the 50-140. However I reduced my kit now to an XT5 and 16-55 and 56mm 1.2 WR. I actually find myself being more creative - and maybe because I can move better and force myself to execute visions with only 2 lenses.

    • @halgrynshaun
      @halgrynshaun День тому

      @FredRanger 100% agreed... it's just the size of the sony that's appealing. However, the Fuji is not that bigger... The thing that drove me over the line to make this decision to move back was going through old photos and seeing the colour. The funny thing is looking at some of my photos I remember I increased the grain on some recipes which I still like looking at. You are 100% correct on the Fujifilm grain, there is something about it.

    • @MrRafalEn
      @MrRafalEn День тому

      @@halgrynshaun I feel the same. Sold Fuji to get Canon R8 which is fantastic and has great color but images just didn't spoke to me and it was still little too big. Tried A7C II and I hated it, tried Zf didn't like the output. Now I am on Panasonic S9 and I love this thing. After adapting LUTs which took me couple of weeks I got looks that are really satisfying and for video this thing is a beast not to mention AF which is miles ahead of Fuji. In the end I miss X-E4 + 27 f2.8 as nothing in full frame world is as small as this setup and I miss Classic Cuban Neg and Pacific Blues film recipes but I am not sure if I should add Fuji back just for those things. I won't sell Panasonic S9 for sure due to video abilities but let's see. If money will be there I might buy Fuji X-M5 or X-E5. XF 27mm f2.8 WR is waiting in a drawer (didn't sell it as I know it's hard to get). Also I miss XF 35 f1.4 - special lens and look that I can't get with modern glass even in post process.

      @MrRafalEn I thought about the s9, but the lack of viewfinder may drive me nuts. I love everything else about the camera. The lut options are game-changing. Hopefully, more manufacturers will start doing the same. It's good to get in early... Perhaps I'll keep my nikon and trade in the sony... thanks, you're not helping. Now, the rest of my time will be spent looking into this as a potential option.

      Thank you for the feedback on the podcast, and I'm happy to hear that you find value in the content. Regarding your question about finding a place to rent Leica cameras, it seems difficult to find one and places like Gosselin or Photo Service aren’t offering renting Leica products. My suggestion is to keep an eye out for Leica Demo days, where they showcase demo cameras and let users play with it for a couple of hours. Camtec/Leica Boutique in old MTL had one a couple of months ago. The best way to stay updated is to subscribe to their Newsletter and follow them on Instagram. I hope this information helps. Cheers!

      I totally get you! I've been shooting with Fuji cameras since the original X-100 came out 13 years ago, and while their autofocus has never been their strong suit, the colors, shooting experience, and film simulations are where Fuji really excels. For those reasons, I also switched to another system when I need highly reliable autofocus.

    I'd say the most important thing it's to have fun and enjoy yourself. Also, don't beat yourself up if you make a mistake - there will always be other opportunities and mistakes are the best way to learn - which leads me to my final piece of advice: remember to switch off image stabilisation when using a tripod. I wasted an entire night of astrophotography at a dark sky site because of that. 😂

    Love the review! You can always tell when a reviewer is an experienced shooter😊Looking into getting the Q3 next to my commercial feeling Sony. Have you tried the Q3? If so, what were your thoughts?

      Thank you for the feedback. I did have a chance to test it yes. It’s a great camera. I especially like the flexibility of the tri-resolution sensor. Have fun with it!

    I've had the Q2 reporter since it first came out. It's the best camera I've owned. As you pointed out, it's menu system is the best. I did experiment with a Ricoh GR IIIx, but I couldn't deal with it's menus and sold it. My "serious" camera is a Leica M10-p, which I love, but it lacks image stabilization so I now use the Q2 almost exclusively. Thanks to your review.

      Best in class menu system! I would also add the companion iOS app which has the most intuitive user interface.

    Here's my advice Fred for anyone out there hunting the streets. Street photographers need to invest in extremely comfortable sneakers to walk and explore the surroundings they are living in. The more you walk, the further you go, and the more you encounter those candid moments. Cool video Fred 🫡

    Currently using a XT3 for live streaming and nothing else. I’m looking at the H2 and the XS-20 but I don’t know which way to go.

    • @FredRanger
      @FredRanger 3 місяці тому

      If you don’t need the weather sealing, bigger body and 4K 120 fps, the XS-20 can definitely do the job! My only gripe would be the micro HDMI port, but if it’s only for livestreams, you might end up only using the USBC port anyways.

    Q2, Q2M or Q3 for B&W photography?

    • @FredRanger
      @FredRanger 3 місяці тому

      All of them are good options, but nothing beats the monochrome sensor for B&W photography. So my choice would be Q2M.

    Has anyone run into an issue where you can't save any of the changes you made to the 7 custom settings?

    • @FredRanger
      @FredRanger 3 місяці тому

      You have to hit the Q button to save every setting if you don’t have auto-save on

    • @rootedtreeproductions
      @rootedtreeproductions 3 місяці тому

      @@FredRanger Yep. Doing that on each individual change, but then it won't save the changes. When I go back in, it goes back to the default programming.
